Christine Farren addresses miamisburg school board regarding transgender youth
Christine Farren's addressed the Miamisburg school board regarding her concerns regarding the safety of transgender youth.
Her statements raises concerns with many in our community and the Ohio Legislator which passed HP 68 Saving Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act. which I wrote about in the article The Truth About HB 68
Christine Farren stated:
"Concerned about the amount of hate and fear that is being leveraged towards this vulnerable population across our state and our nation.
In February of this year, the American Psychological Association stated its opposition to bans on gender affirming care for transgender youth. They noted that the fear, hatred and disinformation surrounding the LGBTQ community and particularly transgender kids creates "distorted perception of the psychological and medical support necessary for these youth creating a hostile environment that adversely affects the mental health and wellbeing." LGBTQ deserve the support and love they need for who they are, and they must have safe spaces where they are free from the fear of rejection and hate.
In 2022 the CDC noted that suicide is the second leading cause of death among 10 to 14 year-olds and the third leading cause of death among 15 - 20 year-olds.
LGBTQ individuals face a significantly higher suicide risk, being four times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers."
Christine Farren equates disagreement with her perspective as evidence of "hate and fear," which is an assault on those who support a more traditional perspective. A "hate and fear" label creates deception, which is out of place in our schools. Perhaps, instead of misclassifying them, she might better listen to what they have to say.
Affirming instead of diagnosing the root cause
There are those that believe it is better to affirm students in gender confusion than to attempt to identify the root cause of the issue. For decades I suffered from gender confusion. Today I believe that my confusion stemmed from having a father who failed to teach me what it means to be a father. At the same time, I enjoyed the approval of a sympathetic mother.
Promotion of hormone therapy or gender affirming surgery to minors
I find it shocking that the American Psychological Association stated that it opposes bans on gender affirming care for transgender youth. Currently individuals under the age of 18 are not allowed to purchase alcohol or register to vote. Yet, states allow minors to consider life altering drugs (without parental consent) that make them look like and act like individuals of the opposite sex. Hormone therapy interferes with the natural development of the human body and causes life-altering changes, many of which are irreversible, create medical complications or an early death. In my opinion, this is child abuse, as discussed in my blog entry Pride, Lies and Deception.
Testimony, There and Back
In the video below, Laura Perry Smalts shares about her transition journey, a stressful period during which she identified as a male. After seven years, she realized that she was living a lie, at which point she fully embraced her female birth gender. After seven years of painful experiences, she realized that she had been living outside of God's incredible desin for her. Under the influence of her loving parents and other believers, she faced the fact that she had spent years under a self-designed identity, completely outside of God's plan for her. Laura and pediatrician Dr. Meg Meeker, speak compassionately about the issues surrounding gender confusion in today’s culture, offering practical insights, hope, and help.
